Chanda Hahn is a New York Times & USA Today Bestselling author of Reign An Unfortunate Fairy Tale. She also writes the Iron Butterfly series. She uses her experience as a children’s pastor, children’s librarian and bookseller to write compelling and popular fiction for teens. She was born in Seattle, WA, grew up in Nebraska and currently resides in Portland, Oregon with her husband and their twin children.
I was born in Seattle, WA and grew up in a small town in Nebraska. There wasn’t much to do in a small town of five hundred people, so I spent all of my summers reading. Once, on a family vacation my Uncle even commented, “All she does is read.” Well my love of reading continued to grow so much that after High School I worked for Barnes and Noble Booksellers.
I attended North Central University in Minneapolis, MN for children’s ministries and later became a certified minister. After moving to the Chicago suburbs with my husband, I became a children’s librarian. I was often asked by parents to recommend books for young teens that had action, fantasy and maybe light romance, but was clean. They didn’t want to have to worry about what their kids were accidentally reading. I saw a great lack of books that fit the bill and I wanted to write books that readers wouldn’t be ashamed to recommend to others because of inappropriate content. So I wrote UnEnchanted, followed by the rest of the Unfortunate Fairy Tale Series for this purpose.
I published UnEnchanted shortly after I moved to Portland, Oregon with my husband and twin children in 2011. The fourth book in the series recently hit the New York Times and USA Today Bestsellers list and the final book in the series Forever comes out June 8th, 2015.
